CLEAN UP DAY: Saturday, May 19th

 

THANK YOU to all the parents and students who helped with the clean up day last Saturday. We removed lots of debris and weeds. Then we planted 14 trees and 5 bushes! Take a look! It’s fantastic!

NOW we could use just a little more help.  We need to lay some black ground cover sheets to prevent the weeds from growing back. We also need to lay mulch over the cover. The school will pay for the purchase of supplies. We just need someone to do the work. Can anyone help? Please send me a note or an email if you can help!

 

FIELD DAY is scheduled for Friday, May 25th.  If you have volunteered, you should have received your assignment by now. Please call the office if you did not receive your assignment.

Our annual spring BAND CONCERT will be held in the Parish Hall on Wednesday, May 30th at 6:30 p.m.

Everyone is invited to attend.

Our Golf Tournament is scheduled for Monday, June 4th. Please remember that your sponsorship forms and your registration forms are due this Friday, May 25th.  Volunteers are still needed. This will provide a natural privacy between the school and our neighbors. Next year, the current 7th grade plan to provide some outdoor park benches and/or picnic tables. FIELD DAY is scheduled for Friday, May 25th.  Volunteers are always needed!

Field Day will be a little different this year. There will be NO first, second, and third place winners! Everyone will have a passport that will be stamped when they visit the different stations (States of the USA)! Each activity will be unique to something that is specific to that state. For example, Idaho – potatoes; Massachusetts – marathon. It proves to be quite a fun filled experience. Now, we could use some help.

We need a few supplies: 15 – 20 hula hoops; 25 – 50 potatoes; 5 clear buckets or jars – all the same size; 10 – 20 Orange sponges; 5 basketballs; long ribbon for the Marathon finish line; string or rope for the “volleyball” net; 10 nerf balls; 5 beach balls; and 25 – 30 bean bags.

Whatever you donate would be greatly appreciated! Please act fast, as Field Day is a week from Friday!

STUDENT COUNCIL Popcorn and Juice Drink Sale is scheduled for Friday, May 4th.
Flyers are going home individually for all students in grades K – 3. Only a flyer will be posted in grades

Congratulations to all our participants in the Diocesan Declamation Festival. Giulia Sena, Samantha Ellis & Nicole Mathieu, Jacob Lachapelle, Mutunga Ndegwa, Allie Paquette, Daniel Carew, Connor Martin, Alison Cundiff & Kaylee Turgeon, Emily Narel& Celina Stansky, Kathryn Russell, and Courtney Cryan. We were represented in 12 categories and our students took home 8 trophies! I was very proud of you!

You dressed very appropriately, you conducted yourselves as fine young students, and you all tried your best.

Thank you to our judges: Kevin O’Connell, Heather Peloquin, Frank Russell, Ann Stansky, and Paul Stansky.  Without your help, this would not have been possible.

IMPORTANT LUNCH INFORMATION FOR APRIL: Each day in April will have the option of the main entrée. The second option everyday will be a BAG LUNCH (not a salad). The Bag Lunch will consist of a Mini bagel, yogurt cup, soy butter cup, carrot and celery stixs, cuke wheels, and fruit. Only on Friday, April 27th, the choices will be Pizza or Fish ‘n’ Chips.

Send your Scrip order in this Thursday, and L.L. Bean orders can be ready and delivered the next day. A limited amount of cards are available for immediate delivery. Help support our school through your participation in the Assumption Scrip Program!

           Another DI TEAM. Jared Magsino, grade 7, is on another Destination Imagination Team. His team has made it to the State Championship. His Mom is their coach. His team, for the second year in a row, will be at WPI on March 31. Good Luck, Jared!

              Grade 5 will leave for Nature’s Classroom on Monday, March 26th. They can hardly wait!

Think Assessment Hours!

              Declamation Festival Judges needed: Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. In order to participate in the Declamation Festival, we need to take five judges from Assumption School. I would hate to disappoint our students. Please consider helping us with this event! If your children are participating and you are driving them, why not stay and help judge?  If your children are not in grades 6 -8, you can still judge. It’s a great way to understand the Declamation Festival before your children reach middle school. Call, email, or send a note to Dr. Bernard if you can help.

              Uniforms… Last week, a flyer went home from Allen’s Uniform Store, regarding their March Madness Sale. Please note, on the back side of that flyer was our uniform regulations.               UpDate on our DI Team. The team participated in the Destination Imagination Competition on Saturday, March 3rd.  For the first time working together as a team, they placed 3rd! Awesome team effort! Great job, Robert Buduo, Theta Chosta, Emily Maguire, Robby Mankaryous, Connor Martin, Marisa Perkins, and Katie Russell! We are very proud of you! A special thanks to Mrs. Sherri Martin and Mrs. Perkins for coaching the team. Many, many hours were dedicated to this endeavor and the results show all the effort and guidance that went behind the scenes. Thanks again!

              The PTG meeting at 6:30 pm. is scheduled for Thursday, March 8th in the Parish Hall.  Free babysitting in the Extended Day Care room is available, courtesy of Mrs. Cathy Carew and the Student Council. Remember, the meetings last approximately one hour! The Door Prize will be free tickets to the Wine Tasting event! The uniform Swap will be available! Please join us. 

            Girl Scouts 100th Anniversary
Monday, March 12th marks the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts. If your child is a Daisy, Brownie, Junior or Cadette, please help celebrate this momentous day by having your child wear her tunic, vest or sash over her Assumption uniform to school this Monday.

               Mass is scheduled for Tuesday, March 13th at 9:15 a.m. Please join us, if you can. 

               Tuition Grant ‘n’ Aid information is posted on the website. Please go to our website and select the Parent menu. Then select the Facts Tuition.
