PTG Meeting Minutes
November 3, 2011
Meeting came to order at 6:36 pm.
Prayer and pledge was led by Dr. Bernard and Christene Riendeau.
Tonight's Boston Bruins memorabilia raffle basket was donated by the Barbour family.
Minutes of September 8, 2011 meeting read by Secretary. The motion to accept minutes was made by Mrs. Legg and seconded by Mrs. Smith.
President’s Comments: See below report on Pasta Dinner
Vice President’s Comments: Mrs. Lundgren discussed Back-to-School Packs. The cost is projected to be between 20-50 dollars depending on supplies included. The issue to use packs as a fund raiser or the cost to be rolled in to future tuition payments was set forth. Mrs.Lundgren will have sample lists and prices at the end of meeting for review.
Treasurer’s Report: Mrs. Wiehn reported that the start of the year the balance was 1,097.12 dollars. Current funds to date are 22,996.57, after various fund raisers: including the Hebert candy sales, Jogathon and Pasta Dinner. Motion to accept minutes was made by Janice McGlynn and seconded by Michelle Chausse.

Principal's Report:
Dr. Bernard reported that the eight grade retreat was enjoyed by all that attended.
The Cross Country team's last meet, the CMCC, was a great success for both the girls' and boys' teams. Mrs. Holland reported that both the girls and boys took second place at the meet, with individual medals won by 20 runners.
Report cards are to go home on November 16.
Parent-teacher conferences are set for November 17.
Nature's Classroom is scheduled for the last week in March for the fifth grade students.
The Christmas Pageant is to be on Thurs, December 15 at Saint Brigid's Church.
The Sports Club has two more weeks left of soccer and then will move on to flag football.
The students are working hard on the school newspaper and the first edition will be published soon.
Fundraising Reports
Scripis offto a slow start this year with only 15-20 families participating so far. Mrs. Depasquale anticipates more orders coming up with the holiday season. In addition, there will be cards available to buy at tonight's meeting, as well as the parent-teacher conferences on November 17.
Mrs. Houssan was not present to report on the success of Jogathon, but as the treasurer’s report states the event was successful and enjoyed by all the students. Thank you to Mrs. Houssan for running this wonderful day.
Mrs. Riendeau gave thanks to everyone for coming out to the Pasta Dinner, despite the inclement weather. Thank you to all for the donations and for Mrs. Maloney for coordinating the baskets. Special thanks goes to Amy and Matthew Depasquale for the wonderful food. It could not be done with out you.
The Foodworks fundraiser was again incredibly successful with $2,700 dollars raised. Thank you to Mrs. Moloney, Mrs. Cote-Dumphy, Mrs.Keenan, and Mrs. Fitzgerald for their help. Another day is planned for the spring.
Old Business
Tax question posed at last meeting was answered. Donations made are entirely tax deductible.
New Business
Mrs. McGlynn reported that the bin is almost full and there may be a possibility for another bin for additional donations. A Saturday evening event is scheduled this year on a ticket only basis. Invites and tickets are being given out to charities for the event. Please let Mrs. Russell, Mrs. Maguire or Mrs. McGlynn know if there are any charities that could benefit from the Saturday evening event. As always, volunteers are needed. A special thanks goes to Trish Belsito for the signs, tickets and flyers for the event. This year there will be no cards or caroling at the event since the event has become too large. These two activities are going to be done separately. The cards for will be done in art class and the carolers will perform at the Millbury Library.
The Poinsettia sale begins next week, with the final deadline of November 28th for the forms. The flowers will be delivered on December 3rd.
Readathon is still in need of a chairperson.
The Wine Tasting is scheduled for March 10, 2012 at the Asa Waters Mansion. The Maloney family is coordinating this event and volunteers are needed to help. Mrs. Riendeau and the PTG are hoping that this event will lead to a much bigger fundraising gala to start a scholarship fund for children attending Assumption School.
Announcements:
Assumption night at the Worcester Sharks will be on January 21. Students will be singing the National Anthem at this event.
December 1st and 2nd are the dates of the Christmas Shop. Volunteers and donations of gift bags are needed.
Next PTG meeting is scheduled for January 12th. Thank you to the 6th grade and Kindergarten for hosting tonight's meeting.

· Meeting came to order at 8:20 pm
· Prayer, Pledge and Welcome led by Dr. Bernard and Christene Riendeau
· President's comments: Introduction of new PTG Officers and Class Representatives.
Mrs. Riendeau discussed the new fund-raising goals and projects for this school year.
In addition, the topic was proposed regarding the expectant increase in attendance at
future meetings with the addition of babysitting and reduction in the length of meetings.
Also discussed was the revision of Spirit Wear, which will be available to order online via
Allen’s Uniform’s web site in September.
· Vice-President Comments: Topic of Back to School Packs discussed. More information
to be presented at next meeting.
· Treasurer’s report was accepted as read. The goal set for this year is 60K. Motion to
accept was made by Patty Corkum and seconded by Nan Holmes.
· Minutes from May 12, 2011 read by Secretary and accepted after revision to item
regarding Scrabble Club attendance. Motion to accept made by Janice McGlynn and
seconded by Cheryl Rocheleau.
· Secretary read correspondence. Minutes to be posted to web site for voting at next
meeting.

School and Teacher Reports
· Dr Bernard reported on allocation of the previous year's fund-raising profits. These funds
went to the improvement of the masonry and the repair and painting of the windows. New
books, desks and a floor for the Kindergarten classroom were purchased. The
Physical Education program was updated and will now include a health and nutrition
component. Two copy machines were also purchased. Other topics discussed were the
new lunch program and the launch of the new school web site.
· Candy drive begins Friday September 9, 2011, with an end date of September 21, 2011.
Chairperson Kirsten O'Leary announced that 300 boxes were ordered this year and many
dates are open to sell at Goretti's and Wal-Mart. Sign-up sheets are available at the
conclusion of the meeting.
· Amy Depasquale spoke of the renewal of the Scrip gift card program with an addition of
an incentive component (revenue will be split 50 percent once $50.00 is raised for the
school). In addition, popular cards to be made available for sale at the next PTG meeting.
· Jog-a-thon packets went home Wednesday, September 7 and the date is set for October
7, 2011.
· The date for the Pasta Dinner is set for Saturday, November 5.
· A question was raised about tax deductions for donations and will be clarified by the next
meeting.

that are needed for donation. She lamented about the undesirable inclusion of
undergarments, specifically brassieres. A Facebook page has been set up for future
information.

building repairs, landscaping, benches and picnic areas.
· Mrs. Holahan was absent from this evening’s meeting as she was attending the
Science Fair along with several students
· Enrollment for the 2011-2012 school-year is expected to be the same as the previous
year including a strong enrollment for the middle school grades.
· Grade K just finished their long-awaited yearly trip to the Discovery Museum. It was a
success as always, with the highlight being the bus ride to Acton.
· Golf Committee still needs lots of volunteers to assist the day of the golf tournament.
· Robotic Club will begin again in September with the theme this year “Food Factors” --
emphasizing food safety and ways to prevent contamination.
· Scrabble Club is winding down and attendance has been lower due to the onset of
spring sports.

By-laws with minor changes and clarifications noted by the By-law
Committee Chairperson (Patty Corkum) was made by September

· Fundraising proposal for the 2011-2012 school year (an ambition $60K) was presented
by Christine Riendeau (incoming PTG President). Some new items will include a
Read-a-thon and a Wine Tasting. Motion to accept was made by Cheryl Rocheleau,
seconded by September Thompson, all were in favor. Fundraising Proposal passes.
· New PTG Officers and Classroom Representatives were sworn in.
· Gifts were presented to outgoing officers, and meeting hosts were recognized.
