          REMEMBER: Destination Imagination fundraiser is this week!

Our team of 7 students includes: Connor Martin, Marisa Perkins, Robby Mankaryous, Robert Buduo, Theta Chosta, Emily Maguire, and Katie Russell. They will represent Assumption School in Competition on Saturday, March 3rd at Millbury High School. In order to help defray the cost of participating in this program, I am offering free dress days on Wednesday, February 15th and Thursday, February 16th. In order to qualify for a free dress day, you need to donate one dollar for one free dress day or two dollars for two free dress days. Just bring in your donation on that Wednesday and/or Thursday and enjoy your free dress day! There is no obligation, but your participation in this activity would be greatly appreciated! 

              CALENDAR RAFFLE for March is going home this week in a large manila envelope. We ask everyone to sell at least five “calendars”. Ask for extra calendars at the office this week or upon returning from February vacation. All money is due before Thursday, March 1st. Please return all unsold “calendars” as some families always request more.

               THANK YOU to all the parents who hosted, cooked, or baked for the Teachers’ Luncheon last Thursday. The teachers truly appreciated everything! Thank you also to the parents who volunteered to supervise in the cafeteria and the playground while the teachers enjoyed their luncheon. The children enjoyed their extra long recess! Again, our deepest gratitude for all your support! We truly appreciated it!

              Thank you to all who attended the PTG meeting last week. Thank you to Mrs. Carew and Danny and Jillian for providing Free Babysitting! Thank you to the DI Destination Imagination Team for giving a presentation. It was very informative. The meeting only lasted 58 minutes! Next meeting, March 8th at 6:30 p.m.

        Sr. Jeanne will be giving a presentation on the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary in the Parish Hall on Monday, January 16, 2012 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. This Rosary Patch Series Presentation is a religious activity patch award program established by the National Catholic Committee on Scouting. There are 5 patches in the series. This event is open to all Catholic and non-Catholic Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Girl Scouts and their families.

        Remember, there is NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 16th. It is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Therefore, there is no Ski Club on that day, as school is not in session.

     January 9th, is the first Ski Club activity. The students will leave from school at approximately 2:30 p.m. Pray for snow!

               Parents, the police called the school on Monday, December 19th.  They are concerned with the traffic in the morning at drop off. It seems that some cars stop right in the middle of the street to let their children out. This situation completely blocks the road, is a safety hazard, and hinders through traffic. The police will now frequent the area in the morning. Please do not block the street at any time. Thank you for your prompt attention to this serious matter.

Any Verizon Fios customers from either Grafton or Sutton, are able to watch the program on their local cable access channel.

I could use help trying to distribute a copy of the show to all the cable access channels in Grafton, Sutton, Northbridge and any other towns...I will try to get copies of the pageant to school so that maybe a resident of those towns could drop it off at their local channel locations.  Once they are dropped off, we can ask for the show to be aired but no promises...each channel may already have filled all its programming.

               Friday is a Release Day for us! We will dismiss at noon. Lunch will not be served. Busses will be available only in the morning, not at noon. There is no Extended Care in the p.m. 
 
              School resumes on Tuesday, January 3, 2012.  Salad will not be available on Tuesday, January 3rd or Wednesday, January 4th. Salad choices will be available starting on Thursday, January 5th. 

            Sr. Jeanne wishes to thank all the Assumption School students and parents for the food received at Thanksgiving. The donations were so generous that she was able to put more food baskets together. These extra baskets were distributed for Christmas! Thank you all ever so much.

      Scrip News …

There's still one more week to purchase your holiday scrip. Send in your Scrip order on Thursday,  or order online by Thursday and have your Scrip gift cards the following Wednesday. This Thursday the PTG will be selling our pre-purchased scrip cards for retailers including Dunkin Donuts, Lands' End, Barnes and Noble, and GAP/Old Navy.  These cards will be available for purchase at drop off on Thursday morning of this week! You can make your purchases in the office until about 9:00. Finish up your holiday purchases and help support Assumption School!  A small SCRIP FLYER is going home with each child today.

     Christmas Pageant will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 7 p.m. in St. Brigid’s Church. Reminder, students must arrive at St. Brigid’s church hall between 6:30 and 6:45 p.m. Please dress in your Sunday best, Holiday attire! If you are unable to attend, please send a note to Dr. Bernard.

     PROGRESS REPORTS, if needed, will go home Thursday, December 15th. 

     PHOTO RETAKES are scheduled for Tuesday, December 20th. Please send his/her photo package back to the office by Monday. If your child was absent that day, and you wish his/her photo to be taken, please send a note to the school office by Monday, December 19th.  If your child has gym that day and is having his/her picture retaken, please have them wear the regulation uniform and pack their gym clothes to change into.

     The holidays are fast approaching, but you still have time to purchase scrip to your favorite retailers to give as gifts or to use for your holiday purchases. There are three more weeks to place your scrip order. Simply fill out your blue Assumption Scrip order form and send it in, in your family envelope on Thursday.
