Educating the Whole Child:
Mind, Body and Spirit.
"Life is a Math equation. In order to gain the most, you have to know how to convert the negatives into positives."
In the sixth grade, the students will be spending the year refining skills they have learned in the past and learning new skills to prepare them for next year’s pre-algebra class. Students will continue to work on concepts like decimals, fractions, and order of operations to solidify their knowledge in those subjects. They will learn how to solve simple equations using variables and formulas as an introduction to algebra. Students will be introduced to integers and some aspects of geometry as well.
Seventh grade will begin the year in pre-algebra with a review of integers and graphing using a coordinate plane. They will move through the year learning how to solve one and two- step equations containing whole numbers, decimals, and fractions. They will also learn how to work with inequalities, ratios, and proportions. Some geometry will be touched on as well as we go through the year.
Eighth grade will begin with rational and real numbers, expressions and equations, and factoring. They will also learn about linear functions and inequalities before moving on to the study of geometry.
